Renowned across Nottingham with its must-visit reputation, Annie's Burger Shack is populated by students, families, couples, parties... Any occasion is a great excuse to visit, and its novelty factor means there's something for everyone (yes - even veggies! Every burger can be substituted for a vegetarian option).
Spacious, with quirky décor, Annie's does what it says on the tin. The menu is packed full of extraordinarily innovative burgers, meaning you need to dedicate a good amount of time to selecting what you fancy. I'll admit to having visited more than five times, and trying something different each at each meal, so can vouch for the food being brilliant each time without fail.
My favourite so far is the 'Surf and Turf': a jam-packed burger topped with breaded prawns and Thousand Island Dressing. As with all of the burgers on the menu; it sounds weird but somehow works! Every item includes a burger and a bun, but then is also topped with what could easily be served as another meal on top. Think roast dinners, nacho basket, English breakfast, pizza, and so much more. So far, Annie's have over 30 different burgers to offer, with a breakfast menu too!
The quality of sides and drinks match that of the burgers - it's the first place I ever tried and fell in love with sweet potato fries, as well as an ice-cream float!
The only thing lacking is a dessert menu, but I think we can let them off considering I've rarely seen anyone clear their plate. Perhaps dessert-burgers could be their next move though? Maybe not. Known for being difficult to book a table due to its popularity (although perhaps not the most secluded and romantic venue for a date), it's best to book in advance, but if you fancy dropping in there is a great bar to wait at it you're not in a rush. Overall a top place to visit, famous amongst all Nottingham locals
Best: amazing novelty factor
Worst: portions really are huge!
