Hidden amongst shops in the busy city centre, lies Pepper Rocks. A small cocktail bar with two floors and an outdoor balcony, this bar is open every evening (times vary) for cocktails and snacks.
Rustic and cosy in style, this bar is slightly off of the main streets, so is easy to miss, making it one of Nottingham’s more hidden gems. With an assortment of seating areas, Pepper Rocks is suitable for small or medium-sized gatherings, but with anything too big you might run out of seats! The balcony is a fun novelty for UK bars, but often sees brief visits during the chilly winters, although you can certainly enjoy some warm evenings throughout the summer. This bar has a unique style, and is a very chilled-out location, with several different rooms.
The cocktails are great, with a good range of traditional and unique drinks, and the bar is big enough to watch your drinks being shaken to perfection. A great early bird deal offers £4 cocktails every night before 10pm, which is great value as the drinks both look and taste delicious.
Open mic nights are on Tuesdays. My experience of accidentally stumbling into one is that the talent is great, and the bar gets packed with an attentive audience!
The perfect place to go out for a fun couple of cocktails with friends, in a really relaxed bar which provides an escape from city crowds. Despite its laid-back style, you won’t look out of place if you decide to dress up for the evening.
Best: drinks and atmosphere are great.
Worst: usually spacious, but not always loads of room available if you are going with a big group.
