White Rabbit Tea Shop

Tucked away in an unsuspecting side street of Nottingham city centre, lies one of the two White Rabbit Tea Houses. With a warm welcome from first opening the door, the White Rabbit's tasteful yet unique décor is a pleasant greeting, providing a homely yet sophisticated atmosphere. The gentle theme of rabbits is portrayed through small touches of detail - my favourite being the bunny salt and pepper pots!

The menu offers both breakfast and lunch, with a well thought-out array of sandwiches, along with tasty afternoon treats of tea and fresh cakes. Whilst not quite a regular, I can admit to at least five visits to this tea room, and have sipped tea from a different piece of china at each visit, thanks to the colourful array of preloved donations.

During a lunch visit I enjoyed a delicious sandwich of Brie, caramelised red onion chutney and lettuce, and with plenty of healthy sandwich options on the menu, you don't feel guilty about eating cake too! I have also just popped in for cake and tea, and have left feeling very full thanks to the generous portions of delicious sponge cake.

The showstopper on the menu, however, is by far the afternoon tea. Served on a delicate cake stand, your choice of sandwich is presented, along with scones and a selection of miniature cake slices. The tiers are also decorated, which adds an element of uniqueness and a personal touch. The number of people catered for is flexible, which definitely calls for a group trip! I have also noticed a special afternoon tea menu created for Valentines Day, which certainly looked appealing.

Without being overpriced, the White Rabbit Tea Shops charge an appropriate amount for good quality, handmade food. If you enjoy an afternoon out sampling delicious cakes in a pretty tea room with a convenient location, then White Rabbit Tea Shops are for you!

Best: afternoon tea; particularly the range and presentation.

Worst: sometimes have not got a seat as its small size has meant all of the tables are full, which is disappointing.
