I must admit to being somewhat dubious when a good friend took me to a doorway on Market Square which led straight into a descending staircase. Appeased by an attractive display of doughnuts in the window, I followed her down to this underground doughnut cavern.
Once inside I was pleasantly surprised to see a counter full of larger-than-life doughnuts, bursting with amazing flavours. After a great amount of deliberation I selected a Galaxy Salted Caramel doughnut, which proved to be a brilliant choice. Covered in chocolate, I sat at one of the rustic benches and munched happily, enjoying the unique surroundings. Perfectly filling (don't eat before your visit!), and exceeding expectations, the doughnut was absolutely delicious.
The Nottingham Doughnut Co. have good value for money (think of your favourite slice of cake, and add even more flavour!), and also offer deals for combining a coffee with certain doughnuts. Providing a standard range of drinks, this cafe is predominantly a doughnut shop.
Having visited The Nottingham Doughnut Co. on Instagram, I am definitely planning to go again, as their extensive flavours look divine. Being handmade means that these doughnuts are fresh, but also that not all flavours are available all of the time. Hopefully their popularity and success will mean there is room for further expansion and increased drink options.
Best: fantastic flavours.
Worst: closed on Mondays - don't get caught out.
